My idea is ...

Hide empty fields, more field types, and dependable ones

I run a gaming site, and we would love to see 3 things:

- more kinds of fields types, or options to create them easy, for example, being able to use embed, or html code to use generated signatures, like mygamercard.net example: <embed src="http://card.mygamercard.net/ES/jobet.swf"; classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="198" height="135">
</embed>

or the option to create a field for the gamertag, and that it would parse the rest of the code...

- Hiding empty fields, we don't like showing fields that the user has not completed, this is already an option community builder

- Dependable fields, so If I make for example a field for "world of warcraft" that is tickled, Another field appears where I can put "characters"

This would have many uses :)

Having one field dependent on another field is a must. I am developing a site for users living in both the US and Canada. I would like to let an user specify his/her country by a single Select first and then depend on his/her selection, show a single Select with either the US states or Canadian provinces as values.

Another field type that I really need is an Integer field type, where users are only allowed to enter numbers (0-9). If I can specify the min and max, it will be even better.

Being able to specify the min and max for the Date field type would be useful, too.

Being able to specify the default value for a field will be awesome, too.

At the minimum, I should be able to specify a RegEx pattern for the Textbox field type and the system will do front-end validation against the pattern. That way, I can create customized field types for telephone numbers, zip/postal codes, web addresses, email addresses on my own.

How long does a "voice" stay under review? more counting when is one of the biggest points in Community Builder!

"more kinds of fields types, or options to create them easy" - what about the ability to extend JomSocial somewhat like the way that Joomla! provides for additional parameter "types" in xml config files by allowing custom fetchElement() functions. Developers could then create combo boxes etc which could take their options from a database query for example - the possibilities are endless : )

"Dependable fields" - adding dependable fields to custom field types would be sensational! A scenario? User chooses State (options grabbed from db table), then a City combo box is populated (options grabbed from city db table using the selected state)!

I've thrown a few votes behind these ideas.

How about the ability to assign profile field groups to only be available to certain access groups (registered/author/admin/etc)? Or each profile field assignable per user level?

this is easy. Already did it on my site. Just put in the code, if field = NULL don't display ;)

A field to post widgets from other networks would be really great. At this point it is not possible to write html.

I would LOVE to see some Gamercard integration in particular. Since this is easily pulled, all JomSocial needs to do is take the provided Gamertag and then pull in the Gamercard information.

maersk: yes, some basic validation would be a must, for camps you know must be something like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Great idea ! I would suggest some basic validation for the fields and editable on the back-end too!!!

I think hiding empty fields is a great idea.

It would be even more powerful if the titles for profile field sections where hidden if none of the child-fields where filled in.

It's important because many users do not fill in their profile, and the majority of profiles are filled with empty space.
