integrated calendar and event participation system
If you are in a group hopefully you have events - virtual or physical - which you would want to have members attend, drive new membership, report your activities to the public, etc.
Registration and notification should be very simple for the end user, event creation and administration should be very easy - and delegated - for administrators.
Meetup.com is a great example of this type of interface/funcationality.
There is no one system in Joomla to do this - perhaps JomSocial can provide this functionality once and for all!
Group Managers/Event Coordinators should be able to:
- Set up an event and venue
- Venue's should generate a google map (starting point from members profile or "clubhouse" perhaps)
- Decide if it's open to the public or is private (members only)
- Set up if it's paid or unpaid
- Group events together (meetings, social, mandatory, members-only, public, etc.)
- Delegate events or overall coordination to event hosts or coordinators
- Have events appear on an event calendar/create an "events" page
- Have sponsor banners appear with event information on your pages (perhaps priority given to these, etc.)
- Decide when registrations are closed (date and # of attendee driven)
- Create different views for the event calendar (show different event types, show day/week/month, etc.)
- Allow events to appear in "hot news" and other sections on the front page
- Make changes to events that notify attendees via email and/or internal messaging, update front page notices
- Receive attendance reports, feedback, surveys, etc.
- Provide public facing feedback on event title and how well it was received (quick "our events" review)
- Consider integration with an open source "web ex" type service (on server or off) to bring together remote networks
Users should be able to:
- Search available events
- Register for events and grouped events
- Toggle if they are attending, not attending, still thinking about it
- Receive updates and reminders
- Be able to import iCal events and view the calendar on an iPhone/BB (over the web)
- Be able to change their attendance status
- Review the event calendar
- See a list of events they have signed up for
- Have the ability to communicate with other attendees (autocreate forums, just in time messaging, etc.)
- Have the ability to rate events, provide feedback, post photos, etc.
We have completed initial event system and will continue to work to improve them

The key element that keeps me from being able to use Jomsocial is the lack of recurring events. I need to be able to have a system that lets me have all the local events in one place, many of which repeat weekly. There's no way I can use this until recurring events make it in, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This is the biggest hole in the event system for me, and it's a deal breaker. I saw they added duplication in 2.0, which is nice I guess but it's not even a real band-aid. I'd still have to spend hours every week duplicating 50+ events. Not going to happen. Please just add recurring events. Please.

1) Often registrered users ask a way to add their not-registered friend to events. Normal Users (as well as Admin) should to be able to add not-registered people to events.
2) People who delete their reservation have to be showed (list) in order to see date and time of their cancellation. This allow event creator to keep trace and (if necessary) to ask them refounds if any.

Some of this has now been done, however some key features have not. Where is the Recurring Events? Where is the calendar module? Two VERY BASIC features that should have been included with the latest release......

Our groups are actually "teams" and it would be awesome if a "team" could register for an event. Please consider this!

I love love love what has been done with jomsocial events so far. However I would love it even more if it were integrated with jomsocial groups and the profile.

This is something that is desperately needed. My organization is event-driven. The current event component doesn't come close to filling my organization's needs. I really like JomSocial and I want to migrate from Meetup.com - which has an excellent event management component - to JomSocial. So far the event component has been quite difficult.

This is absolutely critical to me......I am planning on purchasing Jomsocial for my club, however, event management is absolutely key.

Why not integrate the powerful Joomla Zap calender? Then you have everything you need.

We absolutely need this. We would actually also need some kind of payment gateway integration (a.net) but would be happy if it was just a plugin...
Possibility to really customize your events would be a killer!! So define anything from multiple venues to meal choices (with separate prices), individual tickets within the event to multiple sub-events....and a possibility to have the registered user then register multiple people through their registration....say 1 person from a family is a member of the site but can register their entire family for the event and pick and choose the amount different sub-event tickets/meals etc depending on their wishes... -

Now that there is an events component in 1.8, it needs to be strengthened from a simple party invite system to include more robust event managements, including: 1) Repeating events (ordinal day of week - like 2nd wed or 4th thursday or specific numbered day of week, month, or year)
2) Venue Management - Multiple different events should be able to occur at the same venue so that the physical address is associated with the venue verses the event. Event reports should be available per venue. Venue should have separate contact info/website etc than the event.
3) Enable back-end bulk upload by CSV -

I still can't believe jomsocial doesn't have it's own event component built in like there group section, include events and you will increase your product even more. eventlist is pretty poor it doesn't have good features.

Integrated events venue list for users. Users may select venue from this list or enter new venue like in joomla Eventlist (schlu.net).
Why? The venue list is very good for the SEO. I have all venues registered in Google and many visitors comming from there. -

supergroups and superevent (http://www.supergroups.org/superevents) took out group albums and made the groups worse in that respect you can only post unorganized random images but you do get group event. Now we have to choose whether to have events within a group and no album feature or stick with Jomsocial groups that have organized album feature within groups but without the event feature.

Of all the top feature requests for JomSocial, this is the only one that cannot be had through 3rd party components that will integrate with JomSocial. It's crucial for communities for groups to have and privately and publicly share events! I'd also request that individuals can have their own private calendars for keeping track of personal appointments.

In Facebook un terzo dei post sono eventi, è incredibile che l'ottimo team di Jomsocial ancora non abbia sviluppato un plugin per questo. Eventlist è un applicazione pessima e non più sviluppata (abandonware). WE NEED.
