Ahoi. UserPoints is a very interesting feature for getting a site to life... But the JS UserPoints don't seem to cover this important wish in an useful way. Users should be motivated by the site-system, so that they're interested in leaving more time on the website... Therefore in the case of UserPoints we need the following conditions: 1. The sense of UserPoints should be, that the site-users have to show activities on the site for getting more Points - OK that is covered. 2. The site should attract with cool stuff, that the users can "buy" for Points - OK that is covered too. 3. The system needs an "0 points stop" - because the user should be forced to have enought points for getting this app or upload this video... Actually JS UserPoints will move into negative value, if users add an application (maybe -25 points) when they have only (eg) 5 points. So two bad things will happen: He can add the application the points go into negative value (-20) In a useful way it would do the following thing instead: the addition of something that will cost more points as the user has, must be blocked. A message should appear with some text like „blablabla...get more points by activity...blabla“ the points mustnt get negative value There is no motivation for site users to keep a longer time on the website, if they can „buy“ as many apps, pics, video, … as they want. This would make JS much more competetive to other products. Because only then the UserPoints can be used in the right way... The users should show activities on the site for getting mor points, if the have not enought points for "buying" this or this. The activity of users should be forced on sites... WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT?

Currently JomSocial has numerous embedded elements within it's default template such as the Login/Register "module" embedded within frontpage.guests.php To eliminate this you have to copy the default template and hack/remove that section of code if you don't want it displayed. Or you can css display none (not ideal). There are numerous other examples throughout the product. The point is Joomla has a beautiful mechanism for displaying modules and plugins, why is JomSocial embedding these elements instead of using the system. Jw

It would be nice if you would break the mold of greedy support and open the forum to those of us who cannot afford to maintain a yearly subscription. I think it is rude to not offer open forum support after a subscription expires. It is greedy for any developer to require me to pay for forum support when all I need to do is connect to the community for help. Many posts that I have made on any give account has not been answered by a developer or staff. If I don’t have an active subscription then by all means ignore me, but don’t deny me access to the community simply because you want more money! Not only would this show your commitment to your customers but would also allow those of us who don’t maintain a current subscription to help the new subscribers. I find it ironic that you have created a fantastic way to build communities but yet you deny community support based on how much money we have!

For instance setting the following in Configuration/Privacy Profile Privacy - Friends Friend's Privacy - Friends Photos Privacy - Self Will still mean your users profiles are listed on the frontpage. Unless you go to the template ans change the setting there. Even after that you can go to search/browse.html and see them. Elements of the profiles might not be listed if the users has set them up correctly, No public stuff. Even then you can't hide the avatar or the user name. A private members only community is not possible with JomSocial and it should be.

Our community is full of people who already know each other... They go through an approval process before being added. It would be great it they could just be automatically friends with everyone when ever they are approved as a member! Please advise if anyone knows how to do this! Thanks!

When another member comments on that photo, the feed now becomes cluttered with "User Name commented on the photo SUPER LONG WINDED CAPTION TAKING UP MULTIPLE LINES." It seems silly to override a controller to accomplish this. Using a language override is just as inflexible because the controller is only going to attach a certain string. profile site - page and real person [updated]

Right now I am using 2 multi profile types (page/real person). Some of my clients are real persons and sometimes I need to set up a page for a team or a business that run their own profile within JomSocial because they also act as authors within Joomla and their profile is being displayed in article. Groups won't do it at this point. It would be nice if a real person can assign a page profile to his account. Example: I login to my personal profile "Peter" and now I create a page profile "my business". I can either use this business profile stand alone or connect it with my real person profile. I can also just login on frontpage and just create a page profile without a real person profile. This already works great. Would love to see a feature like "linking my real person profile to page profile" and maybe there is more we can do on this topic. Futhermore there is a need of setting/adjusting multi profile type in backend for users.

hi, discussions in my page are our Forum. We decided to use no separate Forum because Users don´t know where to write and read if there to many features. This is a great component - but sometimes there are too much possibilities to write and user get confused. So Groups are the main stage on our homepage to communicate and we wish to get some features to make it easier for Users to handle it. 1. Moderate features for discussions like, archive, moove, featured discussions etc. 2. See whats new: mark new answers with a image like the red star in the discussion overview 3. New Discussion module show also private depending on the user groups

I ended up editing two files in order to get some semblance of an upload notification. Basically what I did was create a div above the video upload button and set that div to display:none. The div includes an animated gif and notification text that the upload has begun.... From there I added to the javascript so that after validation and the file upload begins.. that div is set to display:block and is seen by the user.

Dont know if this will help anyone else.... but for me, its better than nothing.

Suggestion is to allow groups to have multiple sets of information. The idea is that a group type has a parameter allowing for multiple sets of information. Now you have to have access to the back-end of Joomla to be able to moderate the fron-end of Jomsocial. I think an admin should be able to appoint other registered users to moderate the front-end without giving them access to the Joomla back-end.

It's not easy for us who use other langue then English. it's would be great if there was a tool that check my langue file and see if I missing some string. and if string is missing it's show the English text. Then it's easy for us to change the English text to ours own langue.
