Feature Request

  • Voting existing idea create more impact than creating new ones. So, do search for existing ideas that are similar to yours.
  • If you have 3rd party component integration request, be specific what component you need. A general “More integration” request is NOT helpful and will be closed.

    1. Text area comma separated searchable field

      Searching interests is quite good to meet people who likes same as you, but I might have some itnerests not shared, and want to look for someone who likes "madonna" not "madonna, britney spears".

      Being able to introduce comma separated interests, like in fb (no need for them to be intelligent) on the same field is a must.

      If I have the interests field "books" I want to be able to look for people who likes each one of them, not exaclty the same ones as I do

    2. separate video upload and video linking limitation

      I would like to be able to control the video upload and video linking separately.

      Ex:

    4. Style attribute also on profile page

      In custom profile fields there is a "Style attribute" this one only takes affect on profile input fields. This is silly!! The style attribute should also take affect on the output fields of Jomsocials custom profiles in profile view

    5. Global privacy settings should be followed/checked by all JomSocial apps/modules/template

      Currently JomSocial apps/modules/templates fail to adhere to global settings for privacy. For instance setting the following in Configuration/Privacy

      Profile Privacy - Friends
      Friend's Privacy - Friends
      Photos Privacy - Self

      Will still mean your users profiles are listed on the frontpage. Unless you go to the template ans change the setting there. Even after that you can go to search/browse.html and see them. Elements of the profiles might not be listed if the users has set them up correctly, No public stuff. Even then you can't hide the avatar or the user name.

    6. Strip embedded JomSocial "Modules" from default templates and use Joomla Modules

      Currently JomSocial has numerous embedded elements within it's default template such as the Login/Register "module" embedded within frontpage.guests.php

      To eliminate this you have to copy the default template and hack/remove that section of code if you don't want it displayed. Or you can css display none (not ideal).

      There are numerous other examples throughout the product.

      The point is Joomla has a beautiful mechanism for displaying modules and plugins, why is JomSocial embedding these elements instead of using the system.

    8. New Members Are Automatically Friends With Everyone On approval

      Our community is full of people who already know each other... They go through an approval process before being added. It would be great it they could just be automatically friends with everyone when ever they are approved as a member! Please advise if anyone knows how to do this! Thanks!

    12. Facebook Fan Page App

      It would be AMAZING if you were able to creatve a Facebook Fan Page app that would allow someone to join our JomSocial website with the click of a button.

      Just like how someone can click "Sign in with Facebook" to sign up/log in. I'm hoping you can create "Sign in to WEBSITENAME" and the user would be sent to our community site's sign in through FB process.

    14. More flexibility with activity templates.

      Here's the scenario:

      A member uploads a new photo using the share tab. The user also includes a long winded caption in the "Say what is on your mind" area.

      When another member comments on that photo, the feed now becomes cluttered with "User Name commented on the photo SUPER LONG WINDED CAPTION TAKING UP MULTIPLE LINES." Followed by the actual comment that looks like: "[picture's thumbnail] Cool."

    16. moderate discussions and mark new answers

      hi,
      discussions in my page are our Forum. We decided to use no separate Forum because Users don´t know where to write and read if there to many features.

      This is a great component - but sometimes there are too much possibilities to write and user get confused.

      So Groups are the main stage on our homepage to communicate and we wish to get some features to make it easier for Users to handle it.

      1. Moderate features for discussions like, archive, moove, featured discussions etc.

      2. See whats new: mark new answers with a image like the red star… more

    17. customization of groups view by groups admin - i will pay for it

      I think that is a good solution as "Viewing photos in the popup window" to make it more convenient viewing of photos with last comments. For example facebook.com or Simple Image Gallery PRO from JoomlaWorks :) Also you can see these screens
